The Children's Collection was created by 47 children in Los Angeles from 2003 through 2005.
Each child was given a large canvas and encouraged to freely use any of a vast array of materials, not commonly associated with traditional art, to create their own original mixed media artwork.
The Children's Collection was shown in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Los Angeles at the Barnsdall Junior Arts Center Gallery from April to June 2006.
In May 2007, ten of these artworks were selected to be exhibited in Paris at the Les Arts Decoratifs, Palais du Louvre to honor children's artistic expression.
A special thanks to our Opening Night hosts, who generously donated their time to this project: Irena & Mike Medavoy and Shawn & Larry King. California Governor Arnold Schwarenegger, acknowledging the importance of the arts for youth, sent his congratulations on the success of The Children's Collection project (below).
This extraordinary collection became the impetus for Love & Art Children’s Foundation’s mission to bring it’s unique art workshop experience to children in need and to benefit their causes.
